VM: That was probably in 1964, following my father into the woods. We had some wooden skis from L.L. Bean. He said 'Follow me' and we took off into the mountains. Backcountry skiing has been something that my family has always done. My father loved to poke around the woods on skis, so it was just something that we've always done.
