They are all above the timberline of the central Andes, which makes the experience very similar to what skiing in the moon would be (or at least that is how we picture it). The main service area and most hotels which are ski in-out are around 10000 ft high and their off-piste areas are unparalleled. Valle Nevado is 2:30 hours away from Santiago de Chile, on a very winding and steep road (it can also be accessed after a 20 minutes helicopter ride). The accommodation is not luxurious but it serves the purpose and the quality of the snow is great.
Here, the ski season runs from mid June to late September and Within the Andes Mountains are some of the best ski resorts in the world. The easiest ones to get to are located just two hours outside of . Santiago-Benitez International Airport is the main air hub for the region and has good transfer services via shuttle bus to nearby resorts.
Snowboarding tends to be overlooked in many of the resorts in the world. While some ski resorts do not allow the practice of this sport, others have additional slopes with ramps and jumps that have been made especially for snowboarding fans.
