Winter Sport Tourism

WinterIce fishing enthusiasts find walleye, northern pike, perch, whitefish, trout, and burbot provide sport in Saskatchewan lakes. The season for this winter sport is usually late December to mid-March. Saskatchewan Tourism recommends layers of warm clothing with appropriate head and footwear, and a good ice auger, ice fishing line, tackle, and bait, according to Saskatchewan Tourism. For cold days, portable ice fishing shacks or tents may be used as well. It's also useful to have winter survival gear, and to let someone know where you are going and for how long. And, don't forget your fishing license.
